KATHMANDU: The construction of the Hetauda-Dhalkebar 400kV transmission line, which had been stalled for nearly 12 years due to various procedural hurdles, has reached its final stage.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, announced that the work on the remaining 14 towers in the Hetauda region is nearing completion.

Minister Shrestha stated that continuous efforts, involving coordination with local residents, elected representatives, district administration, stakeholders, and the Nepal Electricity Authority, have been made to accelerate the project, which was long delayed by issues related to land acquisition and compensation.

The minister has urged the construction company to complete the remaining work on time and has directed the relevant departments and agencies of the authority to provide effective facilitation and coordination.

According to Minister Shrestha, once the Hetauda-Dhalkebar section is completed, electricity flow across the eastern and western regions will become more stable and reliable. He noted that this will help address industrial power demand, facilitate cross-border electricity trade, and prevent the wastage of electricity generated during the rainy season. “We no longer need delays; we need speed, coordination, and results,” Shrestha said, while reiterating his commitment to bring the transmission line into full operation soon.
