KATHMANDU: Public vehicles to and from Kathmandu have been put on hold as different highways have been obstructed following incessant rainfall at different places of the country from Thursday.
People have been facing problem in their movement due to obstruction of highways connecting Kathmandu from different places of the country.
Spokesperson at Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office, Superintendent of Police, Naresh Raj Subedi, shared that public vehicles have been put on hold in Kathmandu after vehicular movement has been disrupted due to landslide occurred at different places of Prithvi highway and BP highway.
However, light vehicles have been moving from Kathmandu via Pharping route, he added. General Manager of Lhotshe Multi-Purpose Pvt Ltd, Pankaj Malla, mentioned that public vehicles have been put on hold at Gongabu-based New Bus Park from Thursday evening after highways connecting Kathmandu from different parts of the country have been obstructed due to landslide and flood.
The incessant rainfall has been taking place in Kathmandu Valley from Thursday morning, resulting in the increase in water-level at rivers inside Kathmandu Valley. With this, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has requested not to park the vehicles at river corridors.
Stating that heavy rainfall and landslide might take place along highways, the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs requested divers to adopt cautions and urged all transport entrepreneurs and drivers to operate transport service coordinating with security bodies.
Different bodies have been appealing to the general people to remain alert, saying heavy rainfall might take place at different places of the country from September 24-28.
