KATHMANDU: Himalaya Airlines has resumed its direct flight service between Kathmandu and Shanghai.
The airline began regular flights between Tribhuvan International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Monday.
In the initial phase, the airline will operate two flights per week on this route. Flights from Kathmandu are scheduled for every Monday and Friday, while return flights from Shanghai will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The company stated that it plans to increase the flight frequency in the future based on passenger demand and load factors.
Himalaya Airlines claims to be the only Nepali carrier currently operating regular direct flights on the Kathmandu-Shanghai route.
Vice President Vijay Shrestha noted that the resumption of these flights would help strengthen trade, tourism, and people-to-people connections between Nepal and China. He added that the route is expected to boost the number of Chinese tourists visiting Nepal and support both the tourism and trade sectors.
Passengers can book tickets through the airline’s ticketing counters, authorized travel partners, its official website, or the mobile application.
