SIRAHA: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said the government has reached an eight-point agreement with the family of Ganesh Yadav, who was fatally shot during a protest in Golbazar, Siraha.
Following a meeting of the District Security Committee in Lahan on Friday night, Gurung visited Yadav’s residence in Tulsiyahi, Aurahi Rural Municipality of Siraha. He said the agreement was reached after discussions with the deceased’s parents and other family members.
According to the home minister, the government agreed to the family’s key demands, including a fair and impartial investigation into the shooting, legal action against those responsible, compensation for the victim’s family, and free education for eligible family members.
The agreement also includes free medical treatment for Yadav’s parents at the government’s expense and a commitment to ensure employment opportunities for a member of the bereaved family, Gurung said.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to a thorough investigation into the Golbazar shooting, the home minister said there would be no compromise in the probe and that anyone found responsible would face legal action.
Ganesh Yadav was shot dead on July 29 while participating in a protest in Golbazar against the violence that had erupted in Dewanganj, Sunsari.
