KATHMANDU: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung is set to travel to Madhes and Sunsari for an on-site assessment as tensions continue to escalate across the region.
The visit was finalized after Gurung met Prime Minister Balen Shah for the second time on Thursday, following the meeting of the National Security Council.
Prime Minister’s press aide Surendra Bajgain said the home minister would travel to Sunsari accompanied by several lawmakers from Madhes.
According to Bajgain, the visit has been arranged on the prime minister’s instruction as the government seeks to assess the deteriorating security situation on the ground.
The renewed meeting between the prime minister and the home minister came after discussions on the unrest and its potential spread across Madhes.
