KATHMANDU: Hospitals across Nepal resumed all regular medical services on Thursday after the Nepal Medical Association (NMA) withdrew its nationwide protest following a five-point agreement with the government.

The agreement was reached on Wednesday evening during talks between representatives of the Ministry of Health and Population and the Nepal Medical Association, bringing an end to the doctors’ nationwide agitation.

Following the deal, the NMA officially called off all protest programs, allowing hospitals to restore normal operations, including outpatient and other non-emergency services.

Doctors had launched the protest after a physician at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj was allegedly assaulted while on duty. In response to the association’s call, hospitals across the country had suspended all non-emergency services on Tuesday and Wednesday, providing only emergency care.

With the dispute now resolved, healthcare institutions nationwide have resumed full operations, restoring access to routine medical services for patients.
