KATHMANDU: The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifying Playoff Tournament is scheduled to take place in Nepal.
According to an announcement by the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN), the event will be conducted from December 4 to 21.
The tournament will feature eight participating teams, comprising the final four teams from the ICC World Cup League-2 and the leading two teams from both the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League ‘A’ and ‘B’ divisions.
The four highest-performing teams in this tournament will advance to the ODI World Cup qualifiers scheduled for 2027.
This represents a significant opportunity for Nepal to secure qualification for the ODI World Cup for the second consecutive occasion.
However, due to the tournament being hosted in Nepal, the previously scheduled cricket series between Nepal and India ‘A’ will require rescheduling.
According to Paras Khadka, Secretary of the CAN, the revised match schedule between Nepal and India ‘A’ will be established through collaborative coordination and mutual agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the CAN.
