KATHMANDU: The foundation stone for the construction of a new building at Shree Gokuleshwor Secondary School in Shailyashikhar Municipality-9, Darchula, was laid on Sunday under India’s High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).

The foundation stone was jointly laid by Basist Nandan, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Bijay Singh Dhami, Mayor of Shailyashikhar Municipality.

The school building will be constructed with financial assistance of approximately Rs. 75 million from the Government of India. The project will be implemented through Shailyashikhar Municipality and is the 11th High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) supported by India in Darchula district.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Dhami and other local stakeholders appreciated the Government of India’s continued development assistance, expressing confidence that the new school infrastructure would significantly improve the learning environment for students and teachers in the municipality.

According to the Embassy of India, the project reflects the long-standing development partnership between India and Nepal. The embassy said High Impact Community Development Projects continue to support Nepal’s development priorities by strengthening infrastructure in key sectors, while contributing to local growth and community development.
