KATHMANDU: India has sent 10 tonnes of relief and medical supplies to Nepal to support rescue and relief efforts in areas affected by the devastating floods.
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar announced the assistance in a post on X, saying humanitarian aid had been provided to flood-affected areas of Nepal.
Jaishankar said India stands with Nepal and the Nepali people during the crisis.
The relief supplies were brought to Kathmandu by an Indian Air Force aircraft. The consignment includes essential relief materials and medical supplies for people affected by the floods.
The devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi area of Rasuwa on Wednesday morning has caused extensive loss of life and property. Preliminary reports put the death toll at at least 95.
The floods have also caused widespread damage to roads, bridges, hydropower projects and other infrastructure in riverside areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and surrounding districts. Search and rescue operations are continuing in the affected areas.
