Indian Army Chief General Seth pays a courtesy call on PM Shah

KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister and Defense Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Tuesday.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava was also present at the meeting.

Seth arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday for a four-day visit to Nepal at the formal invitation of Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel.

During his visit, President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday conferred on Seth the insignia of Honorary General of the Nepal Army. Nepal and India have followed a tradition of conferring the honorary rank on each other’s army chiefs since 1950.

Seth and Sigdel also held a bilateral meeting on Monday as part of the Indian army chief’s visit.
