KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Balen Shah and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane for their greetings on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, reiterating New Delhi’s commitment to strengthening the deep-rooted ties between the two South Asian neighbors.
Responding to messages from the Nepali leadership on X, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the shared history and mutual cooperation binding the two nations.
“Thank you Prime Minister Balendra Shah for your warm greetings. We are committed to working together to further strengthen the multifaceted and age-old civilizational ties between India and Nepal for the mutual prosperity and well-being of the people of our nations,” Modi said in his message to Prime Minister Shah.
In a separate response to RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, the Indian Prime Minister wrote: “Thank you Rabi Lamichhane Ji for your warm wishes. We are committed to strengthening the deep bonds of friendship between India and Nepal for mutual progress and prosperity.”
The exchange of greetings underlines ongoing diplomatic warmth and high-level engagement between New Delhi and Kathmandu as India marks 80 years of independence.
Bilateral relations between the two countries continue to emphasize economic collaboration, infrastructure connectivity, and strong civilizational links.
