KATHMANDU: The construction of an industrial village at Pakluwa, located on the border of Tansen-6 and 7, has been stalled for three years due to a lack of funding.
The project, which began six years ago, has not yet reached 25 percent completion. Initiated under the federal government’s planning and local government management, the project has received no budget allocation for the past three years.
Local resident Rom Bahadur Rana noted that the lack of progress has caused the existing structures to deteriorate. He stated, ‘The structures are beginning to rust and the walls are in a state of collapse.’
According to Tansen Municipality engineer Ram Prasad Shrestha, a master plan was developed to build the industrial village on 102 ropanis of land. So far, Rs 18 million has been spent on perimeter fencing and the construction of a gate. Shrestha explained, ‘The fencing work is complete, but due to the lack of funds, we have been unable to proceed with the rest of the master plan.’
The master plan includes the construction of office space, parking areas, production and assembly units, sales rooms, and a facility with 100 rooms. The total cost to complete the project is estimated at over Rs 450 million. The municipality stated that it cannot continue construction work without additional budget support.
