KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ashish Gajurel has described the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies as a highly challenging department, noting that it serves as a primary pillar of state revenue.
He shared his observations while extending congratulations and best wishes to the newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Deepak Kumar Sah.
Drawing on his five-year experience working with dry port institutions under the ministry, Gajurel highlighted various difficulties within the sectors of supply, industry, market management and international trade. He stated that ensuring the regular supply of gas, diesel, petrol and aviation fuel remains a constant challenge.
Gajurel further noted that there is persistent pressure to revive closed industries and emphasized the need for improvements in industrial area management. He identified several key priorities for the ministry, including making special economic zones successful, controlling black market activities and resolving issues related to the construction of proposed industrial areas to expedite development.
Improving international trade, establishing new industries and facilitating private sector investment to attract capital into the industrial sector were also cited as significant challenges. Gajurel expressed his commitment to supporting the ministry in addressing these issues.
