KATHMANDU: The Janakpur Chamber of Commerce has dispatched approximately Rs 10 million worth of relief supplies to families affected by the Bhotekoshi floods in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading.
The chamber collected the aid over the course of one week following a public appeal under the slogan of unity in humanitarian service.
Chamber President Surendra Bhandari stated that the business community organized the support to assist those suffering from the devastation caused by the floods. Although the transport of the goods was slightly delayed due to a shortage of vehicles, the supplies were officially prepared on Tuesday and dispatched on Wednesday.
The relief package includes food items, clothing, kitchenware, and sanitation supplies. According to the chamber, the clothing items consist of 1,370 lady suits, 1,444 sarees, 1,852 men’s shirts, 1,344 tracksuits, 765 sets of children’s clothing, and 465 pairs of jeans. Other items include 325 pairs of children’s shoes, 258 pairs of ladies’ shoes, and various footwear.
Food supplies provided include 75 sacks of rice, 41 sacks of beaten rice, 28 sacks of puffed rice, 21 sacks of soybeans, 31 cartons of noodles, four sacks of salt, and one sack of lentils. The aid also includes 75 cooking pans, 200 units each of plates, bowls, and glasses, along with various cleaning supplies and one sewing machine.
