KATHMANDU: Japanese company Discovery Support has donated Rs 1 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support victims of the destructive floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers of Rasuwa.
The cheque for the amount was handed over to Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle during a formal programme held at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday. The company stated that the donation was provided through a Global IME Bank cheque.
Discovery Support stated that the contribution was made as part of its corporate social responsibility to assist flood victims during the disaster. Masui Sota, the head of Discovery Support, is known for his ongoing support for various social and cultural activities within the Nepali community.
Sota, who operates hotel and restaurant businesses in both Nepal and Japan, has expressed his commitment to continue supporting social and cultural initiatives while maintaining his ties with the Nepali community. It is believed that this support from a Japanese citizen and business owner will further strengthen people-to-people relations between Nepal and Japan.
