KATHMANDU: Journalist Kishor Shrestha has been remanded in custody for three days as police investigate a case involving alleged violation of personal privacy.
The Kathmandu District Court on Thursday granted police permission to keep Shrestha in custody for three days for further investigation.
Police arrested Shrestha from his residence in Kusunti, Lalitpur, on Wednesday night. The arrest was made on allegations related to the violation of an individual’s privacy.
The Kathmandu District Police Range had obtained an arrest warrant against Shrestha and produced him before the district court on Thursday, seeking permission to keep him in custody for further investigation.
The court subsequently granted police a three-day remand.
Shrestha is the publisher and editor of Jana Aastha weekly. He is also a former acting chairperson of the Press Council Nepal.
