KATHMANDU: Residents, businesses and various organizations in Kaski have raised more than Rs 11.8 million to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for victims of the Bhotekoshi floods.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, Chitrangat Baral, a total of Rs 11,890,831 has been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund by 37 different entities and individuals. The Hotel Association Pokhara, representing 23 hotels, contributed the largest share at Rs 2,935,833.
Other significant contributions include Rs 10 million from The Mountain Lakeside Trust, Rs 964,115 from Barahi Resort, Rs 668,450 from the Magar Society Kaski, Rs 555,555 from Nelumbo Nepal, Rs 501,111 from Manav Milan Sanstha, and Rs 500,000 from the Green Development Bank Pokhara branch.
Additional donors include the 2-9 Gorkha Rifles Family Gandaki with Rs 251,000, Hotel Pokhara with Rs 200,000, Bindhyabasini Religious Area Development Committee with Rs 200,000, and the Islamic Society with Rs 300,000. Further contributions were made by Paschimanchal Automobiles (Rs 125,000), REWAN Pokhara (Rs 122,000), Chhetri Society Nepal (Rs 122,000), Brahmin Society (Rs 151,000), Zonta Club (Rs 150,000), and Lamichhane Bandhu Society (Rs 102,000).
Officials noted that many donors deposited funds directly into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund without notifying the local administration. Beyond monetary donations, some organizations purchased food, clothing and medical supplies to distribute directly in the flood-affected areas. Others channeled their support through local representatives, members of parliament and the Pokhara Metropolitan City.
