POKHARA: Panchase in Kaski recorded the country’s highest precipitation over the past 24 hours at 189 millimeters, according to data released by the Hydrology and Water Resources Research Center.
Heavy downpours were also logged across Western and Midwestern districts, including Archale in Palpa (172 mm), Bharse in Gulmi (170.8 mm), as well as Kuhun (165.2 mm) and Darbang (161 mm) in Myagdi.
Active rainfall continues across Bhajani and Dhangadhi Airport in Kailali, Beni in Myagdi, Karkineta in Parbat, Archale in Palpa, and Panchmul in Syangja.
Rising water levels in rivers across Banke, Myagdi, Parbat, Lamjung, Chitwan, and Bhojpur are approaching warning thresholds, with the Kiran Nala River in Banke and Mangalghat monitoring station in Myagdi already breaching danger levels.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather is being driven by a combination of monsoon winds, western winds, and a low-pressure system moving from Chhattisgarh and northeast Madhya Pradesh toward southeastern Uttar Pradesh, India.
While rain has temporarily eased in the Kathmandu Valley, overcast skies persist nationwide.
Light to moderate rain is ongoing across major parts of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
The division has advised heightened caution for agriculture, aviation, mountaineering, and transport sectors due to the potential for severe gusty winds across the Terai belt and river valleys.
