Kathmandu metropolis seeks NAC building for multi-story parking facility

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has requested the federal government to provide the Nepal Airlines Corporation building located at Naya Road to address parking shortages in the city’s core area.

Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol announced the proposal during the 34th founding day ceremony of the Metropolitan Police Force.

Dangol stated that the metropolis has formally asked the federal government for permission to convert the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) building into a multi-story parking facility.

She emphasized that this project is intended to resolve the long-standing parking issues in the central area of the city.

Dangol said, ‘We have made a special request to the federal government to allow the metropolis to convert the NAC Building on New Road into a multi-story parking lot. Once this is done, the parking problem in the core area will be solved. We believe that we are ready to move forward with that work.’

The acting mayor further noted that the metropolitan government is currently conducting a comprehensive study to manage and alleviate parking problems throughout Kathmandu. She added that the administration intends to implement solutions based on recommendations provided by a team of experts.
