DHANGADHI: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) leader Khagraj Bhatt has been appointed chief minister of Sudurpashchim Province.
Province Head Najeer Miya appointed Bhatt on Friday after he claimed the post with the support of the CPN-UML. Bhatt submitted his claim after former Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah resigned on Thursday.
Bhatt is scheduled to take the oath of office at 3 p.m. Friday. The NCP and UML have agreed to share seven ministries, with the NCP taking four, including the chief minister’s post, and the UML getting three.
The UML had withdrawn its support for Shah’s government on July 15 over disagreements on the provincial budget.
