KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has pledged to intensify its efforts to assist people affected by the Bhotekoshi flood, particularly in rescue, medical treatment and relief operations.
Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol said the metropolis would extend necessary support to flood victims undergoing treatment at different hospitals as well as families whose relatives have been reported missing.
Dangol, along with a team from the metropolis, visited Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and the National Trauma Center to inspect treatment arrangements and receive updates on the condition and needs of those injured in the disaster.
She said KMC would promptly initiate the required measures to support rescue, treatment and relief efforts for those affected.
“The country is facing a crisis at the moment. Our priority is to save lives, rescue those injured and provide relief to the affected. We are committed to standing beside families who have lost their loved ones,” Dangol said.
At Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Dangol sought information about patients receiving treatment and asked about the availability of essential medicines, medical equipment and other supplies.
Hospital Deputy Director Dr Pawan Raj Chalise said the facility required additional medicines and essential supplies as the demand for emergency medical services had risen following the disaster.
Dangol subsequently visited the National Trauma Center, where she was briefed on the condition of flood victims receiving treatment. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Rudra Marasini provided an update on the patients’ health status.
During the visits, Dangol reaffirmed KMC’s commitment to providing every possible assistance to injured victims and families whose members remain missing in the aftermath of the flood.
