KATHMANDU: The BP highway has been obstructed following a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall.
According to the District Police Office, the landslide occurred at 4:30 a.m. today at Charsaybesi in Roshi Rural Municipality-7 and Gimdi in Roshi-8.
Meanwhile, the District Administration Office has suspended vehicular movement on the Kavrepalanchok section of the BP highway during nighttime starting Thursday.
Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari stated that traffic is prohibited from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. between Sept. 24 and the morning of Sept. 28. The administration may also restrict daytime traffic depending on the severity of the flood and landslide risks.
To facilitate the implementation of this decision, police units in the neighboring districts of Sindhuli and Bhaktapur have been requested to assist. The administration has also decided to alert residents living near riverbanks and landslide-prone areas about potential dangers.
Regular updates regarding the road conditions and safety risks will be disseminated through local media. Police have advised the public to check the status of the highway before traveling during the day.
