CHITWAN: Vehicular movement along the Prithvi Highway has been disrupted after a large dry landslide, carrying several trees, fell onto the road at Simaldhara in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5, Chitwan.

The landslide occurred at around 10:25 pm on Saturday, completely blocking the Narayangadh-Kathmandu section in both directions.

According to police, clearing the debris and restoring traffic could take at least six to seven hours. All vehicles travelling between Narayangadh and Kathmandu have therefore been stopped until further notice as a precautionary measure.

Police said they are coordinating with the Department of Roads to clear the debris and reopen the highway as soon as possible.

Authorities have urged travellers to consider alternative routes and avoid unnecessary journeys until the road is cleared and traffic conditions return to normal.

The blockage has left numerous passengers stranded as vehicles remain halted on both sides of the highway.
