SANKHUWASABHA: A lightning strike triggered by an overnight rainstorm killed a 28-year-old man and critically injured two others while they were processing cardamom at a local furnace in Pokhrang, Panchkhapan Municipality-8, late Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Umesh Dahal, who was pronounced dead upon arrival at Panchkhapan Basic Hospital in Wana.
Two co-workers, Pushpa Lal Katwal, 64, and Chhatra Bahadur Dahal, 62, sustained severe injuries in the strike and are currently receiving treatment at the same medical facility.
Emergency responders from the Bhartiwal Danda police post, located roughly four kilometers west of the site, deployed to the scene immediately following the incident to assist victims and assess the location
