JANAKPURDHAM: The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Communications and Law in Madhes Province has handed over 12 vehicles to the Nepal Police.
The Ministry provided one vehicle each to seven districts and two to Sarlahi district. The pickup vans were handed over amidst a function organized here Monday.
The Chandrapur and Garuda Area Police Offices of Rautahat district also got one vehicle each.
Minister for Internal Affairs, Communications and Law, Fakira Mahato, said that the province government has prioritized peace, security and the protection of citizens’ lives and property, so the police should be well equipped.
“The Ministry will continue enhancing the capacity of policepersons along with distribution of resources,” Minister Mahato pledged.
On the occasion, Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, Om Prasad Adhikari, hoped the resources including vehicles provided by the provincial government would help police maintain peace and security.
An officer at the Ministry, Avinish Kumar Mishra, shared information that the distributed pickup vans cost over Rs 46.86 million including VAT.
The Ministry is planning to distribute 70 motorcycles to the police to facilitate patrolling, according to a planning officer Radheshyam Prasad Pal.
