KATHMANDU: Trekking routes in the Manaslu and Tsum Valley regions have reopened following repairs to damage caused by the Budhigandaki River flood on Oct. 11. The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) confirmed that both the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley trails are now operational.
Trekkers can reach Machhakhola by vehicle to begin their journey. A new 10-minute alternative trail has been established to bypass a high-risk section at Yaru Bagar. The Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) has also resumed the issuance of trekking permits.
According to TAAN, the Manaslu Larke Pass route is fully operational, with trails cleared through Khorlabesi, Jagat, Philim, and Nyak Phedi, allowing access to Samagaun and Dharamsala. The Tsum Valley trekking route has also been reopened following repairs led by the local community. Residents repaired trails near Sardikhola and constructed four new wooden bridges, restoring access to Chhekampar and Mu Gompa.
TAAN verified the status of the routes through coordination with Chumnubri Rural Municipality Chairman Nima Lama and local youth leader Serap Gurung. While the routes are open, TAAN has advised trekkers and support staff to exercise caution and consult with local residents regarding current trail conditions before proceeding, as the state of the paths may vary by location.
