KATHMANDU: The Medical Education Commission has approved a program and budget worth Rs 6.55 billion for the current fiscal year 2083/84.
The 27th meeting of the commission, chaired by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, approved the budget during a meeting held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
According to the commission, the approved budget includes Rs 5.99 billion allocated by the Government of Nepal and Rs 560.49 million from the commission’s internal resources.
The meeting also decided to spend Rs 560.49 million from a total internal resource pool of Rs 1.35 billion. This amount consists of Rs 998.6 million remaining as savings in the commission’s internal resources as of the end of the last fiscal year 2082/83 and an estimated Rs 350 million expected to be generated from various internal sources during the current fiscal year.
Of the amount to be spent from internal resources, Rs 474.3 million has been allocated for recurrent expenditure and Rs 86.2 million for capital expenditure, the commission said.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Education and Sports Sasmita Pokharel, Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta, commission Vice-Chairperson Prof. Dr. Devendra Bahadur Khatri, and Member Secretary and Joint Secretary Basanta Prasad Koirala, among others.
