KATHMANDU: Minister for Information and Communication, Dr Bikram Timilsina, will be leading a Nepali delegation to attend the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference to be organised in Doha, Qatar.
The event is being held on November 7-13. The delegation includes the Ministry’s secretary, Rajendra Kumar Paudel, and another official.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialized agency of the United Nations for information and communication technologies, plays a vital role in determining global telecommunication standards, coordinating radio frequencies and satellite orbits internationally and promoting digital connectivity.
The Plenipotentiary Conference, held every four years, is the IPU’s highest policy-making body. It sets the organization’s future course of action and strategic priorities, and elects its leadership.
Nepal is scheduled to participate in the elections for the ITU’s senior management team, members of the Council and members of the Radio Regulations Board.
