KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has directed Nepali diplomatic missions abroad to simplify and expedite the verification process for foreign employment demand letters.
The ministry issued the directive following complaints from employer companies regarding delays in verification and the inconvenience caused by missions requesting missing documentation in multiple stages.
According to the ministry, a ministerial-level decision made on Sept. 11 mandates that all diplomatic missions must adhere to existing legal provisions regarding the required documentation and timelines for verification. The ministry has communicated these instructions to all missions through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Under the new directive, if a foreign employer submits an application for demand letter verification, the relevant Nepali mission is now required to provide a comprehensive list of all necessary additional documents at once. This measure is intended to prevent the need for repetitive requests and streamline the approval process. Furthermore, the ministry has instructed all missions to ensure that the verification process is completed strictly within the legal timeframes established by prevailing laws to reduce procedural hurdles for employers.
