Mobile Phone Importers Association donates Rs 3.1 million for flood relief

KATHMANDU: The Mobile Phone Importers Association (MPIA) has donated Rs 3.1 million to support relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts for victims of the floods and landslides that struck the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa on Aug. 26.

The association collected the funds from its member organizations and handed the amount to the finance minister on Sept. 9.

The donation is intended to be deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. The MPIA stated that it hopes this contribution will provide necessary assistance to citizens who have suffered significant losses to their homes, property, and daily livelihoods due to the disaster.

MPIA Chairman Deepak Kumar Malhotra, Vice Chairman Sanjay Agrawal, and members of the board of directors were present during the handover. Speaking at the event, Chairman Malhotra remarked that standing with affected citizens during such a difficult time is a collective responsibility. He commended the member organizations for their support and goodwill in assisting those impacted by the disaster.
