KATHMANDU: Monsoon conditions continue to affect weather across Nepal, with the monsoon trough currently positioned close to its normal location, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
The Division said the country is experiencing generally cloudy conditions, with light to moderate rainfall reported in some parts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, a few areas of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and one or two places in Madhes Province.
The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy nationwide this afternoon. Some mountainous areas are likely to receive moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Many parts of the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are also likely to experience moderate to heavy rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning. Similar weather is expected at some places in the hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is forecast in some parts of the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few places in the Terai areas of Koshi Province, including Madhes Province. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
The Division has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country tonight as well. Some mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning, while similar conditions are possible at a few places in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also expected at some places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
In the Terai, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in Sudurpaschim Province. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
The Division has advised people to take necessary precautions in areas likely to receive heavy rainfall, warning of possible incidents such as flash floods, floods, landslides and soil erosion.
It also cautioned that rainfall could disrupt normal life and affect agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road transportation and air services. All concerned have been urged to stay informed about the latest weather updates issued by the Division.
