KATHMANDU: Nepali citizens seeking to travel to the Kingdom of Morocco can now complete their visa application process from Nepal, eliminating the long-standing requirement to travel to New Delhi, India, solely for visa processing.

The new arrangement came into effect on Monday following an initiative by Megha Chaudhary, Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco to Nepal.

Under the new system, applicants can obtain a recommendation letter from the Honorary Consular Office in Kathmandu and submit their visa applications through VFS Global, which will handle the visa application and issuance process.

Previously, Nepali applicants were required to secure a recommendation letter in Kathmandu before traveling to the Embassy of Morocco in New Delhi to complete their visa application, resulting in significant travel costs and delays.

According to the Honorary Consular Office, the new arrangement has been introduced in collaboration with VFS Global to make Morocco’s visa services more accessible to Nepali citizens. Applicants can now complete the entire visa process without leaving Nepal.

Honorary Consul General Megha Chaudhary said the initiative was aimed at reducing both the financial burden and the time required for Nepali travelers.

“Previously, Nepali citizens had to travel to New Delhi after obtaining a recommendation letter from our office, which involved unnecessary expenses and considerable inconvenience,” Chaudhary said. “With this new arrangement, applicants can complete the visa process from Nepal itself, saving both time and money.”

She expressed confidence that the new system would further strengthen people-to-people ties between Nepal and Morocco while promoting tourism, trade, and broader bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
