KATHMANDU: A motorcyclist died after being struck by a tipper truck on the East-West Highway in Bara on Sunday. The incident occurred along the Dudhaura-Piluwa road section, according to local police.
The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Dev Bahadur Chaurel, a resident of Piluwa in Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City-16. Deputy Superintendent of Police and Information Officer Min Bahadur Ghale of the District Police Office, Bara, stated that the motorcycle, bearing registration number Pra 2-03-022 Pa 9645, was traveling from Piluwa toward Pathlaiya when it was hit by a tipper truck, Na 1 A U 134, at Baijura Bridge. The truck was heading toward Nijgadh at the time of the collision.
Chaurel sustained critical injuries in the accident and was rushed to Bayodha Medicity Hospital in Birgunj. He was declared dead upon arrival by the hospital, police confirmed. Authorities have detained the tipper truck and its driver, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
