MP Bablu Gupta apologizes for viral motorcycle video, fined for traffic rule violation

KATHMANDU: Bablu Gupta, a member of Rastriya Swatantra Party’s House of Representatives from Siraha-1, has apologized after a video showing him standing on the back of a moving motorcycle went viral on social media, admitting that he violated traffic regulations.

Gupta appeared at the District Traffic Police Office in Lahan, where he paid a Rs 500 fine imposed for the traffic rule violation, police said.
In a statement posted on social media, Gupta said the video was filmed while recreating childhood memories and games. He acknowledged that standing on the back of a moving motorcycle to record the video was a violation of traffic rules.

“I have realized that standing on the back of a motorcycle while filming a video was a breach of traffic regulations,” Gupta wrote.
He apologized for the incident, pledged not to repeat such actions in the future, and said he would continue to fulfill his responsibilities toward the country and the public in a more responsible manner.
