KATHMANDU: Members of the National Assembly drew the government’s attention to various contemporary issues during the zero hour of today’s session.

The lawmakers raised concerns regarding the shortage of daily essential goods, relief and rescue efforts following floods and landslides, and the need for greater public accountability.

Lawmaker Khamba Bahadur Khati urged the Ministry of Health to address the delay in the construction of a hospital in Budhigandaki, Bajura, which has not progressed as per the initial agreement.

Member Chandra Bahadur KC demanded that the government take immediate action against black marketing of cooking gas and stressed the need to restore transportation links, including the use of tuins, in flood-affected areas.

Member Jagat Timalsina warned against the rise of disorder caused by a lack of responsibility among public officials.

Dharmendra Paswan demanded the immediate resumption of construction work on several incomplete bridges in Madhesh Province.

Lawmaker Mina Singh Rakhal called for action against those using abusive language on social media against victims, specifically regarding the search for her husband who went missing in the Bhotekoshi floods.

Rekha Kumari Jha also urged the government to provide swift relief to those affected by the Bhotekoshi floods.

Members Ranjit Karna and Ram Kumari Jhakri protested against claims that the National Assembly has been obstructing legislation, requesting clarity on the matter.

Roshni Meche demanded an investigation into the recent clash at Morang Prison and action against those responsible.

Vasudev Ghimire expressed concern over the rising rate of suicide linked to increasing mental health issues in the country.

Samjhana Devkota emphasized the need for better preparedness to minimize loss of life and property during natural disasters.

Additionally, members Sunil Bahadur Thapa and Somnath Poudel cautioned that individuals in responsible state positions must be mindful not to make statements that cause harm to others.
