KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr Sashank Koirala has said the national gathering was organized to reinforce unity within party. He was addressing the inauguration of national gathering organized by the dissent group of NC today.
“NC can not be defeated once it is kept intact. This gathering wants to keep intact NC unity,” he said, adding that the presence of former president and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had made the event successful.
Deuba returned home on Thursday after five months’ stay for treatment abroad.
Former general secretary of NC and coordinator of the event, Dr Koirala, reminded that he had first met leader Deuba in Banaras, India and watched a movie together. “Deuba is our leader, the president. NC will move ahead under his leadership,” he reiterated.
The national gathering organized by the Deuba group will continue for three days.
The event is being held at Miracle Party Venue at Sukedhara, Kathmandu. Event publicity committee coordinator Min Bahadur Bishwokarma informed that the gathering would have a closed session on Saturday and Sunday.
