KATHMANDU: The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has launched a two-day special program to mark World Tourism Day 2026.

The initiative, held under the slogans ‘Nepal is calling’ and ‘Nepal is open’, aims to convey that the country is safe and fully operational for international tourists.

The first day of the campaign featured the ‘NATTA Clean and Green Campaign’. According to NATTA General Secretary Rajkumar Devkota, the association conducted a cleanup drive along the Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park corridor, covering the Budhanilkantha-Tokha-Chandeshwori area.

The second day of the program will feature the ‘Nepal is calling-NATTA Heritage Run’ on Sunday at 7 a.m. The approximately 6-kilometer run will begin at Basantapur Durbar Square and conclude at Patan Durbar Square. Devkota stated that tourism entrepreneurs, representatives from related organizations, youth, and the general public are expected to participate in the event.

NATTA stated that it views these activities as an opportunity to further strengthen the relationship between Nepal’s heritage, culture, environment, and the tourism industry. The campaign is designed to promote a positive message about Nepal’s tourism sector and reassure visitors that the country is open for travel.
