KATHMANDU: Ncell Foundation has announced financial support of NPR 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Wednesday.

The flood has caused significant loss of life and property in riverside areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and other districts. Ncell Foundation said it announced the support in response to the government’s appeal amid the urgent need for rescue, relief and rehabilitation of those affected.

Ncell expressed its heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives in the disaster and extended its deepest sympathy to the bereaved families. It also called for the swift rescue of those still missing and effective relief management for affected communities.

Ncell is also supporting affected communities through communication services. Customers in flood-affected areas have been provided free voice and data services, along with 100 free SMS messages, for three days from Wednesday.

The initiative is expected to help affected people remain connected with their families and loved ones, as well as with teams involved in rescue and relief operations.

Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, Ncell’s Director of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Sustainability, said supporting affected communities during a disaster is a shared responsibility.

“We have decided to provide NPR 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. We would like to assure the affected families and communities that we stand with them during this difficult time,” she said.

Ncell has supported rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts during various natural disasters in the past. The company said it remains committed to continuing its support and cooperation based on the needs and circumstances of affected communities.
