KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Yubaraj Dulal has demanded that the Speaker issue a ruling to ensure the prime minister participates in the parliamentary question-and-answer session with lawmakers as required by House regulations.
Speaking during Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Dulal urged Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal to direct the prime minister to attend the session in accordance with parliamentary rules.
Dulal also expressed dissatisfaction over Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s reported statement that Nepal had also encroached on several areas of India.
He called for the statement to be removed from the parliamentary record, for the prime minister to provide clarification, or for the Speaker to issue an appropriate ruling on the matter.
According to Dulal, both the prime minister and the leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party should set an example by respecting parliamentary procedures and upholding the dignity of the House.
