KATHMANDU: Nepal imported SIM cards worth Rs 242.57 million during the fiscal year 2082/83, according to the latest foreign trade statistics published by the Department of Customs.
The data show that 6.34 million SIM cards were imported during the review period. The government collected Rs 58.95 million in revenue from these imports.

SIM cards were imported from 12 countries, with China accounting for the overwhelming majority of the total imports.
Nepal imported SIM cards worth Rs 240.56 million from China alone, amounting to 6.21 million units.

Other suppliers included Mexico (Rs 917,000; 93,000 units), the United Kingdom (Rs 698,000; 25,502 units), and Australia (Rs 262,000; 12,001 units).
Smaller quantities were imported from South Korea, the United States, Japan, and India, the department’s statistics show.
