KATHMANDU: Nepal is observing a day of national mourning today to honor those who lost their lives in the devastating floods that struck the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.

The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Bhadra 18. The government declared the mourning period to pay tribute to the victims of the disaster.

In observance of the day, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government offices across Nepal, as well as at Nepali embassies and diplomatic missions abroad.
