KATHMANDU: The Nepal Oil Corporation has directed all cooking gas industries to issue mandatory VAT invoices when selling liquefied petroleum gas. The corporation implemented this measure following numerous complaints that some gas retailers were failing to provide invoices to customers and dealers.
The corporation’s LP gas and aviation department issued a formal letter to all gas industries, instructing them to ensure that sellers provide VAT bills for all transactions. The directive states, ‘Due to complaints that some appointed retailers are not issuing invoices after selling gas, it is requested that arrangements be made to ensure that VAT invoices are issued to retailers for all gas distribution.’
The corporation stated that this policy is intended to increase transparency in the gas market and control revenue leakage. The regulator noted that it had previously communicated with relevant associations to ensure the implementation of this decision.
