KATHMANDU: The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reached the final stage of handover after five and a half years of development. The project aims to integrate all administrative and commercial operations into a single digital platform. According to an assessment by Kathmandu University’s Uniconsult, approximately 88 percent of the project’s functional requirements have been completed.
The agreement for the project was signed with Neoteric Neo Software JV on July 20, 2020. The total contract value is Rs 228.71 million, of which 84.87 percent, or Rs 194.10 million, has already been paid. The project timeline was extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The remaining 15.13 percent will be paid only after final project approval.
The system will allow more than 1,500 dealers, 60 bottlers, and 60 airlines and agents to request fuel, make payments, and view transaction details online. Core functions including sales, distribution, finance, accounting, procurement, and human resources are now consolidated into one software. Based on SAP Business One technology, the system operates on the corporation’s internal intranet and Linux servers to ensure high security.
NOC has completed the development and testing of system integration with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL). Once final approval is received from IOCL’s Mumbai office, purchase orders and invoices will be processed in real-time. Project head engineer Pradeep Kumar Yadav stated that after the handover, a new tender will be called for annual maintenance and further system upgrades. Additionally, NOC has initiated a tender process to establish its own data center at its central office in Babarmahal, with a goal to make it operational by April 2027.
