KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has deployed senior officers ranging from Additional Inspectors General (AIGs) to Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) across several districts in Madhesh and other security-sensitive areas, citing the need to strengthen security management in light of recent developments.

According to central police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Binod Narayan Kafle, the decision was taken as part of a broader strategy to ensure effective security coordination and maintain public order amid the evolving situation.

He said the deployed officers have been tasked with evaluating the effectiveness of police manpower and resource mobilization, providing policy guidance, overseeing the implementation of security plans, collecting and analyzing intelligence, and, when necessary, operating directly in the field. They will also coordinate with provincial and district police offices, facilitate security operations, listen to public complaints and concerns, and work to prevent the situation from escalating beyond control.

“The officers have been assigned with the objective of restoring normalcy in a timely manner and reporting developments to the Inspector General of Police as required,” DIG Kafle said.
As part of the deployment, AIG Siddhi Bikram Shah has been sent to Banke, AIG Himalaya Kumar Shrestha to Madhes Province, AIG Uma Prasad Chaturvedi to Kapilvastu, and AIG Ishwor Karki to Koshi Province, including Sunsari district. Among the DIGs, Dinesh Kumar Acharya has been assigned to Siraha and Binod Narayan Kafle to Saptari.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs) deployed include Gopal Chandra Bhattarai in Sarlahi, Somendra Singh Rathour in Parsa, Deep Shamsher Jabara in Rautahat, Nabaraj Adhikari in Chitwan, Krishna Prasad Pangeni in Mahottari, Hobindra Bogati in Bara, Gyanendra Prasad Phuyal in Morang, Bhuvaneshwor Tiwari in Dhanusha, and Amarendra Bahadur Singh in Madhes Province.
