Nepal Police identifies 526 Rohingya who entered Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has identified 526 Rohingya nationals who entered Nepal through various border points, according to an official investigation.

Speaking at a press conference at the Nepal Police Headquarters on Friday, police spokesperson Abi Narayan Kafle said the investigation had confirmed the presence of at least 526 Rohingya in Nepal.

A few days earlier, Dan Bahadur Karki, the Inspector General of Nepal Police, had also said that Rohingya individuals had been found to have entered the country.

According to police data, the group comprises 162 men, 148 women and 216 children. The investigation found that they are currently staying in Kapan, Ram Mandir, and Sunakothi in Lalitpur, police said.
