KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a telephone conversation with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on Friday.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Shah briefed Luxon on the ongoing search, rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations following the floods in the Bhote Koshi river in Rasuwa.
According to the Prime Minister’s secretariat, Shah stated that the government has prioritized the search for missing foreign nationals, including five citizens from New Zealand.
Prime Minister Shah expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance of 2 million New Zealand dollars provided by the government of New Zealand.
Highlighting that Nepal is highly sensitive to climate-induced disasters, Shah requested constructive support from the New Zealand government regarding efforts to secure financial assistance for loss and damage in international forums.
During the call, Prime Minister Luxon expressed condolences and solidarity on behalf of the government and people of New Zealand regarding the devastating floods in Nepal.
