KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank has officially introduced new 1,000 rupee banknotes into circulation starting Thursday.
The bank’s Currency Management Department issued a notice confirming that the new notes, which feature updated security and identification elements, maintain the same size and color as previous versions.
The design features a light green hue within a purple border. The front of the note includes a promissory clause stating that the Nepal Rastra Bank will pay the bearer 1,000 rupees upon demand, backed by the Government of Nepal.
A depiction of Mount Everest appears on the left side, while the right side features a watermark of a rhododendron with the number 1000 beneath it.
As a security measure, an oval-shaped image of the goddess Bhagwati is placed to the right of the Mount Everest illustration.
This image appears golden when viewed directly and changes to green when tilted. The note bears the signature of Governor Prof. Dr. Bishwonath Poudel and includes the series number 2082 B.S. at the bottom.
