KATHMANDU: The Currency Management Department of Nepal Rastra Bank has issued a new 50 rupee banknote.
The central bank announced on Friday that the new notes, which retain the size and color of the previous version but include new features, entered circulation on Sept. 18, 2026.
The new note features the signature of Governor Prof. Dr. Bishwanath Paudel. The front side includes a guarantee statement from the Government of Nepal in the center.
An image of Mount Everest is positioned on the left, while a watermark of a rhododendron is on the right. The number 50 is printed below the watermark, and the series year 2082 BS is marked at the bottom.
For security, the note includes a 1.2-millimeter wide security thread woven into the paper. When held against the light, the letters NRB are clearly visible on the thread.
The back of the banknote features an image of a snow leopard in the center. The English text Nepal Rastra Bank and Rupees Fifty, along with the series year 2025 AD, are also printed on the reverse side.
