KATHMANDU: Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) has been actively providing humanitarian aid as part of disaster response since August 26 floods.
Lately, it distributed food stuffs to the people of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-2, a location cut off from road network since the catastrophic Bhotekoshi floods. The floods occurred on August 26 decimated settlements on its corridor and those on the Trishuli riverbank.
NRCS airlifted the humanitarian aids to the affected region. Total 60 households were distributed the essential materials.
NRCS chairman Dr Bishal Bhandari and other volunteers handed over the emergency supports to the needy people. The support was provided by the Internation Federation of Red Cross.
“NRCS volunteers are mobilized in the flood-hit areas so that relief distribution could be managed well. The Red Cross volunteers are also facilitating and coordinating the search, rescue and relief distribution in the flood-hit districts- Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading,” Dr Bhandari added.
A Red Cross emergency clinic has been brought to operation with the coordination of health section of Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot. The clinic is set up in the premises of Nuwakot Adarsha Multiple Campus, Battar.
Those affected by the floods and currently sheltered at relief camps would be provided health services from the clinic.
NRCS informed RSS that the Red Cross facility provides out-patient services, psychosocial counseling, distributes medicines as per doctors’ prescriptions and mobile services for promotion of community health and sanitation and referrals.
