KATHMANDU: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on establishing a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM) between Nepal and Serbia in New York on Friday.
On the margins of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly underway in New York, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Djuric signed the MoU to the effect.
On the occasion, both the dignitaries expressed happiness over the signing of this important instrument and held fruitful discussions on various aspects of close and cooperative bilateral relations including the importance of strong global solidarity and cooperation on climate action.
The bilateral consultation mechanism will provide an institutional basis for regular discussions and consultations between Nepal and Serbia on matters of mutual interest and concern, Foreign Minister Khanal’s secretariat stated.
With the mechanism in place, the bilateral relationship between the two countries is expected to be further strengthened, helping identify and expand new areas of cooperation.
Meanwhile, signing of the General Cooperation Agreement between Nepal and Rwanda also took place on Friday.
The agreement was signed by Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe during an event organized in New York on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Minister’s secretariat noted that the agreement will further strengthen bilateral relations between Nepal and Rwanda and establish a basis for expanding cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
